EKU Expands Fire & Safety Laboratory
The ribbon cutting for the expansion of EKU’s Ashland Fire & Safety Laboratory was held January 13. The facility is now double its original size and will provide students with what Dean Vic Kappeler called a “first rate integration of research laboratories and student learning.”
The new facility will be used by on-campus students, as well as online students who take courses with on-campus requirements. The first group of EKU Online students will take classes there in Summer 2016.
At the ceremony, EKU President Michael Benson praised the department for their quality degree options and their dedication to providing students with state-of-the-art educational experiences. “Bricks and mortar are great,” said Benson, “but what makes an institution truly great are the people inside.”
